[GARY] 17 years old (would prefer 18 and overs), puny, gawky, bespectacled, smart and geek (think “McLovin” from “Superbad”), he’s a naive, amateur Satanist who works at a fast food joint and longs to break free from his wealthy, stifling parents. He’s granted one of his wishes, and starts to live the life he’s always wanted. Please denote age next to your suggestions. GUEST STAR

Supernatural fans often use the mantra “In Kripke We Trust” to reassure them that creator and Supernatural mastermind Eric Kripke knows what he’s doing.  Indeed, Paris Hilton wasn’t terrible when she guest starred, so at least we were right to have faith then.  But with the next three episodes, I find myself growing doubtful.

Following the homicidal Castiel visiting a brothel, a homicidal Abraham Lincoln, Paris Hilton and the Tooth Fairy, the next three episodes will feature Dean turning into an old man, the Winchesters living in TV parodies and the boys taking a trip to a Supernatural fan convention.  But isn’t Supernatural supposed to be a drama, and isn’t this season about the Apocalypse?

To many fans, it seems like the wheels are coming off the bus and the Supernatural writers are now more obsessed with clever inside jokes about slash fiction than they are with telling a story about Lucifer bringing about the end of the world.

There’s no denying that Supernatural is more comedic than it’s ever been.  Season 1 only had one mildly light-hearted episode, “Hello House” with the first appearance of the Ghostfacers.  Season 2 saw the arrival of the Trickster in the largely comedic “Tale Tales” and the start of self-referential comedy with “Hollywood Babylon,” but other than that, it was all about Azazel and the psychic kids.

Then the show started becoming more adventures with “Bad Day at Black Rock,” “Mystery Spot” and “Ghostfacers” in season 3, but it was season 4 that really got the weird comedy ball rolling.  Episodes like “Monster Movie,” “Wishful Thinking,” “Criss Angel is a Douchebag” and “It’s a Terrible Life” are almost all comedy.

But season 5 has been truly outside the box.  While the season started focusing on Lucifer and Castiel’s search for God, it quickly devolved into filler episodes, stand-alone mysteries that are heavily based on comedy.  Even the last episode featuring the Anti-Christ didn’t seem to have a whole lot to do with Lucifer, especially since the kid just vanished at the end.

There’s no denying that Supernatural is a different kind of show in terms of tone, but is that necessarily a bad thing?  On the one hand, I do wish there was more Lucifer and I want to see the Apocalypse storyline take center stage instead of being tossed onto the backburner for Paris Hilton and Grey’s Anatomy.

But on the other hand, part of me loves the creative inspiration of the Supernatural writers.  If you’re able to view these episodes not as part of the overall series and the season and the mythology, they are exceptional pieces of individual fiction.  By itself, the Paris Hilton episode was a funny yet serious commentary on modern-day obsession with celebrity.

However, as a part of Supernatural as a series and this season’s primary story arc in particular, it was a huge waste of time and a distraction.

In the end, I always come back to the phrase “In Kripke We Trust.”  Surely he’s aware of the fact that Supernatural is more of a comedy and that these light, funny filler episodes aren’t what the fans want all the time.  And based on the fact that he’s setting an episode at a fan convention, I trust Kripke and the other writers read enough message boards to get the underlying wave of displeasure surrounding these types of episodes.

All of this leads me to believe that, somehow, Eric Kripke knows exactly what he’s doing and I’m just too stupid to see it.  I don’t get how Paris Hilton or TV parodies are related to Lucifer and the Apocalypse, and I don’t understand why the writers would want to waste any time if this truly is the final season for Kripke’s original story.

But: “In Kripke We Trust.”  Those four words keep swirling back to the front of my brain, and those four words are what give me the faith to believe that, once this season is over, it will all make sense.

The action is about to heat up on Supernatural… literally!

On the November 19 episode of The CW drama, Castiel will go to Hell.

“I’m on a very important recon mission in Missouri when Lucifer captures and integrates me by trapping me in a burning ring of fire using holy oil,” star Misha Collins told TV Guide Magazine. “It’s our first head-to-head.”

You can take off that trench coat below, Castiel. We doubt you’re gonna need it.

The CW has mashed up altogether the previews to the next three Supernatural episodes. The first one which is airing next week is called “I Believe the Children Are Our Future” and it will see Sam and Dean investigating a series of odd murders that strangely resemble fairy tales and urban legends. The brothers track down an 11-year-old boy named Jesse (guest star Gattlin Griffith) and realize that whatever Jesse believes is coming true. Castiel tells Sam and Dean that Jesse is a serious threat and needs to be eliminated.

The episode after “Children” will be “The Curious Case of Dean Winchester“. As similar as it sounds to “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, the storyline itself involves Dean being 70-year-old. In the casting report, it is said that the aging version has not lost any of his verve or edge but his speed. This episode would be the one with the poker player who has a wicked sense of humor and has the ability to read people. “Curious” is airing October 29.

The first episode in November meanwhile is called “Changing Channels“. There is hardly any information about this episode since the network has not released its official synopsis. However, its scenes can be recognized through the preview as the ones where Sam and Dean appear in TV shows such as the Japanese game and the soap opera. Rumor has it, Trickster will be back after last seen in a 2008 episode. “Channels” is airing November 5.

There were a lot of haters in the Supernatural fan community surrounding creator Eric Kripke’s decision to cast Paris Hilton as a special guest star in last night’s episode.  I guess those fans forgot that the phrase “In Kripke We Trust” exists for a reason, so this morning, those haters are all eating crow.

The truth is that Paris Hilton was fantastic on Supernatural.  She didn’t stay for the whole episode, just the end, but when she arrived, she provided plenty of laughs, action and social commentary.  It was better than I ever could’ve imagined.

The Comedy

Before the episode, I made a checklist of five things I wanted to see in the episode.  While I didn’t get to hear the phrase “That’s hot,” I did get everything else.  There were references to Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, The Simple Life, her sex tape and her little dog, as well as a very tongue-in-cheek reference to House of Wax, which she starred in with Jared Padalecki.  The slightly too-long cutaway shot to Jared’s face was priceless.

While most of these jokes came at Paris Hilton’s expense, many delivered by Jensen Ackles, they still proved that Paris is a great sport who isn’t afraid to poke fun at herself.  Supernatural found the right balance.

The Social Commentary

Perhaps the best part of this episode, and one of the more unexpected twists, was that the Supernatural writers offered up some witty social satire and used Paris Hilton as the perfect vessel to deliver it.  The demon using Paris Hilton’s form was upset that humans used to worship gods, but now they worship celebrities.

Indeed, people like Paris are plastered on magazine covers and their trials and prison sentences are covered as breaking news.  It was a clever way for Supernatural to use Paris herself as a metaphor for the demon.

The Action

Many fans who were disappointed by Paris showing up on Supernatural only wanted to see a bloody and gruesome death scene, a way of living out some cathartic fantasy.  Well, they got their wish.

Not only did Sam cut off her head with an iron axe, but he took about five chops to do it, spraying her blood everywhere like an exposed fire hydrant.  If that wasn’t enough to satisfy fans, we got a special shot of Paris Hilton’s severed head rolling around the ground.  If that didn’t bring a smile to your face, nothing will.

In the end, Paris Hilton’s appearance on Supernatural was far better than anyone could’ve expected.  The show knew just how to use her, and Paris proved, in my opinion, to be an even better actress than Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother.  So hopefully the next time Supernatural decides to take a risk and do something that makes fans uneasy, they’ll remember Paris and say to themselves, “In Kripke We Trust.”

More pictures of Paris Hilton, being not quite herself on “Supernatural“, have been released. The promotional pics show a demon taking the shape of the socialite to confuse the Winchester brothers during their mission in a small town.

Sam and Dean decide to start hunting together again and their first case leads them to a small town whose inhabitants are being killed by famous dead icons like Abraham Lincoln and James Dean’s car. However, after two teenage girls come forward and claim their friend was kidnapped by Paris Hilton, the brothers aren’t sure what they are hunting anymore.

The writers had admitted that they wrote the role specifically for her. Creator Eric Kripke said, “We never expected in a million years that she would do it, but I spoke to her and she got the joke immediately and signed on quickly.”

The episode is called “Fallen Idols” and will air on Thursday, October 8.

It’s time for Sam and Dean to take on the world-famous icons. New on “Supernatural“, Sam and Dean decide to start hunting together again and their first case leads them to a small town whose inhabitants are being killed by famous dead icons like Abraham Lincoln and James Dean’s car.

However, after two teenage girls come forward and claim their friend was kidnapped by Paris Hilton, the Winchester brothers aren’t sure what they are hunting anymore. The CW will air the episode “Fallen Idol” on Thursday, October 8 at 9/8c.

Explaining what kind of demon that becomes a problem for the Winchester brothers this time, Producer Sera Gamble said that it can shift shape to others. Regarding Paris’ cameo Gamble said, “We wrote the role just for her. …The fact that she wanted to do the episode speaks volumes about her sense of humor. She’s flat-out awesome for playing along. You’ll see.”

The inclusion of celebrities in the show has been teased by Gamble and partner Eric Kripke during San Diego Comic Con this year with them confirming that God too will finally show up in this season.
